A trip to Paris in 1998 inspired owners Juliet Holton and Desiree Petitbon to return and improve the lingerie offerings in their hometown of New Orleans. What began as a small boutique has grown into a regional brand, offering American and European designers in lingerie, sleepwear, shapewear, swimwear and activewear. Basics Underneath satisfied an unaddressed customer need in New Orleans and beyond for proper fitting, quality undergarments, swimwear and activewear in a convenient location. With a friendly approach and open displays of merchandise, Basics Underneath strives to take the secrecy out of underpinnings, helping women to understand that dressing well begins with pleasing oneself.
